An authentic African mask named "Mbara" which is word that translates as "Hunter" in the language used by Chamba ethnic group of Nigeria.

This mask measures approximatelyĀ 7 inches (height),Ā 3.9 inches (width) and 2.4 inches (depth). It it is made out of Sese wood and features an abundance of recycled aluminum accents. Each mask is made by Master Artisan Awudu Saaed and three apprentices.

Handcrafted and imported from Ghana, your purchase helps support local GhanaianĀ artisans, their family and community. Each item is handmadeĀ so their may be slight and subtle differences in size, color and pattern. These slight differences are what makes each African Mask unique and a true work of art.

The Chamba ethnic group are native to Nigeria and Cameroon. The Chamba peopleĀ were targets of the Fulani jihads in the 18th and 19th century. They were enslaved, and many migrated south into the mountains retaliatingĀ by becoming raiding bands who attacked slave and trading caravans.
